Alleppey: An Unforgettable Day in My Life…….

I love reading poems especially related to nature but reading something and experiencing it in real makes a big difference. I realized this when I visited a small state of India, kerala. This is compact state but bundle of different features. It would not be an exaggeration to call it an “all in one” destination. You will have mountains, rivers, tea gardens, dams, ayurvedic treatments… and most of all peace and tranquility.

But I really experienced the true beauty of nature when I had a chance to spend a day in houseboat, Alleppey.

A Return To Nature

“Some things sometimes get so deeply ingrained in heart and mind that it really becomes difficult to omit”….

With me also that day has become a cherished moment for my life to come. Though it is difficult to bring out that calm and beauty in words, still I would like to share my feelings. I will feel really great if I am able to make my readers imagine even a little tinge of that grandeur of Mother Nature!

It was a time of Feburary when I was on Honeymoon. I was feeling like a flying bird being with the person I loved the most.

The second day of our honeymoon package was that of house boat at Alleppey. We reached there at around 9:00 am in morning. Excitement was overflowing because I had heard a lot about houseboats… …so quite obvious.

Finally, wait was over and we stepped in house boat at sharp 10: 00 am. Vow!!!!!

Wonderfully… Golden Queen, the houseboat…was really worth watching. I found it like a big boat… no no… a big house… a five star hotel…nooo…actually I could not decide what was it.

So much clean and hygienic, I had not really imagined a boat to be like that.

Mesmerizing View

Then started our beautiful day. There were 3 people on the boat to entertain us. Scrumptious south Indian meal including rice, sambhar, upma was plonked on the table. The simplicity and sobriety with which it was cooked and dished out… really touched our heart.

Side views were really mesmerizing. Boat was crawling slowly in massive backwaters of Periyar river and we… sitting idle…just idle…had nothing to do except enjoying out beautiful nature.

It was perhaps the first time I felt what beauty nature possesses. We, unfortunate people, sometimes ignore chances to enjoy.

It was complete rejuvenation of mind and body…relaxing in cool air touching slowly from all sides, crystal clean water all around, clear sky, pleasant weather, lush green forests and trees around…you can imagine how one would feel!

The same joy continued till evening 7:00 pm. Then again, staff on houseboat served us with a very delicious food. Having done, we experienced the beauty of massive sky and its sparkling companions…stars. We kept watching moon for hours.

To have a glimpse of rising sun, we got up early also. And it was calm…just calm all around… I got enthralled to see rising sun in such an ambience…The view was so clear… an all time experience!!!

By then, it was around 8:00 am in the morning. We had coffee and breakfast and reached back to our place by sharp 10:00.

With that, the day at house boat ended leaving so many emotions and memories in my heart and mind.
